Ask AI: Plain-English Questions, Answers Checked Against Your Data

Type a question about your website the way you would say it. Get an answer from your own numbers, with the date window it covers, the sources it read, and a check of every figure against your data.

Most analytics questions are simple to ask and slow to answer. "Which pages lost the most conversions last month?" takes five seconds to say and, in Google Analytics, twenty minutes of clicking, filtering and second-guessing the date picker. Ask AI exists to close that gap without asking you to trust a machine blindly.

Here is what happens between your question and the answer.

You Ask in Plain English

Type the question the way you would say it. "What were our top traffic sources last week, and how did they compare with the week before?" "Which search queries are losing clicks?" "What did we pay per conversion on Google Ads in August?" There is no query language and no list of approved phrasings. If the question is about your website and the data is connected, you can ask it.

Each question stands on its own. Ask AI is not a long chat thread that slowly drifts away from your numbers. Every question is answered fresh from your data, which keeps answers consistent and keeps the model tied to what the data says.

The Answer Comes From Your Own Data

Ask AI does not query Google live, and it does not answer from the model's general knowledge. Every night, Askalytics copies your Google Analytics 4, Search Console and Google Ads data into a private store. Ask AI reads from that copy. Two things follow.

First, a question asked at 9am and again at 5pm reads the same numbers. Second, the data is as fresh as last night's copy, not this minute. Google Analytics is usually a day or more behind. Search Console is about three days behind, because that is when Google makes it final. We would rather tell you that than pretend to be real time.

What an Answer Looks Like

You get a short written answer with the numbers in it, not a wall of figures. Three things come with it.

  • The date window. Every answer states the exact period it was measured over, so "last month" is never ambiguous.
  • The sources it read. The answer shows which of your connected sources it drew on: Google Analytics, Search Console, Google Ads.
  • The figure check. A line under the answer says how many figures were checked against your data, and whether any could not be traced back.

When a question produces something you can chart, Ask AI offers a one-click chart that you can export. Set your role and experience level once, and answers are written for you from then on. You can also include a public web page in your question, and Ask AI will read it alongside your data.

The Figure Check, Explained

This is the part that makes Ask AI different from a chatbot with a data connection.

After the answer is written, and before you see it, every specific figure in it is checked against the data Ask AI actually read. Did 4,218 sessions appear in the results? Does the 12% rise follow from the two numbers it compares? Each figure is either traced back to your data, marked as a calculation from traced figures, or flagged as unsupported.

The result is shown on the answer in plain words. When everything checks out, you see a quiet line such as "All 6 figures checked against your data." When something does not, the line changes color, says how many figures were traced, and names the ones that could not be matched. The answer is not hidden from you. A few mechanical slips, such as a percentage worked out wrong or a search ranking described backwards, are corrected from your real numbers before you see the answer. A figure that cannot be traced is left in place and flagged, so you see what the check found and decide what to do with it.

Since October 2026, every answer that uses an Ask credit also gets a second opinion. A second AI from a different provider reads the answer and the data it was built from, the same kind of review our Confidence Check gives AI Insights. One honest limit: if that review does not finish, the answer still arrives with a note saying so, and it is never shown as verified. Ask AI is the fast lane. The two checks are what keep the fast lane honest.

AI Insights get the same second AI review as Ask AI answers, and you see the verdict on each one.

What It Costs

Questions use Ask credits, which come with the free trial and with every plan that includes the full platform. The figure check costs nothing extra and runs on every answer, so you can see it working on your own data before you pay anything.

Ask From Where You Work

Type /askalytics followed by a question in Slack, or mention the Askalytics bot in Microsoft Teams, and the answer comes back into the channel for everyone to see. Stand-ups, planning sessions and client calls stop waiting on someone to open a dashboard.

The Takeaway

Ask AI is built on a simple rule: an answer about your data should be checked against your data before you read it. You ask in plain English. The answer comes from your own numbers, states its date window, names its sources and shows its figure check. Common Questions

What Kinds of Questions Can I Ask?

Anything about your connected website data, from a quick lookup to a comparison across sources. For example: "What were our top traffic sources this month?", "Which search queries lost the most clicks?", or "What was our cost per conversion by campaign in August?"

Where Do the Answers Come From?

From a private copy of your own Google Analytics 4, Search Console and Google Ads data, refreshed every night. Ask AI does not query Google live and does not answer from general knowledge. Google Analytics data is usually a day or more behind, and Search Console about three days.

What Does "All Figures Checked" Mean?

Every specific number in the answer was traced back to the data Ask AI read, or is a calculation from numbers that were. If any figure cannot be traced, the line says so and names it. The check runs automatically on every answer and costs nothing.

Is Ask AI Checked by a Second AI?

Yes, since October 2026. Every answer that uses an Ask credit gets the figure check and a review by a second AI from a different provider, like the Confidence Check on AI Insights. If that review does not finish, the answer says so and is never shown as verified.
